2016 New Quilt Blogger's Blog Hop!

Hi Again!

I'm part of a wonderful New Quilt Blogger's group headed by Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs, Yvonne of Quilting Jet Girl, and Stephanie of Late Night Quilter, and this week is the first week of the blog hop! Stick around 'til the end of this post, where you'll find some other great, new quilting blogs and 'hop' on over! (Pssst... There's also a chance for you to win some cool prizes...)

So, not going to lie:

This whole 'blogging thing' is new and magical and fun and... HARD! I haven't posted in awhile, and let me tell you why: The Rocket swallowed a quarter. Yup. A giant, silver, round piece of legal tender. And, to add insult to injury, it created a blockage.

Not even ten minutes after I told him, "get that quarter outta your mouth!! ::wags finger::" What happens? Oi, kids. So, it's been a rough few weeks of doctors appointments, surgeries, tears, and cuddles. Through it all, he was a champ and asked me, "Does that mean when I go to the bathroom, 10 pennies will come out?" No, son, it - fortunately - does not.

But, I'm back and ready to get back in the game! I've been sewing and designing, and now that things seem to have settled down (for now), lots of awesome stuff is coming up on the blog! If there is one tip I will impart on you, dear readers, is that luck favors the prepared. I won't leave y'all high and dry again, I promise!

Back to the blog hop shenanigans! I'm Miranda, and I flippin' love all things sewing. I started sewing when I was about 5, but I've just recently discovered quilting and just. can't. stop. The intricacies, the creations, the math... It gives me goosebumps to think of AAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the possibilities!

I'm a total newbie, but so far I really love foundation paper piecing and Half Square Triangles. I'm interested in learning English Paper Piecing, but all that hand sewing is a little intimidating. If you do it, got any tips? My binding is getting better, and I'm slowly getting the hang of free motion quilting, it's all a new experience!

The thing I love about quilting is that it allows me the freedom to mess up, because each time I do, it's such an incredible learning opportunity. I'm constantly amazed at a new technique, perfecting an old one, figuring out why you do certain things, and honestly, it helps me step back and relax. Phew!

What To Expect from IHPH

What you can expect from this blog is definitely sewing and quilting tips, color combos, fabric pulls, mistakes, and tutorials. I love bright colors and clashing prints, but can definitely get behind some monochromatic awesomeness. I love sewing gadgets and easily entertained by just about anything.

I'm also passionate about small business and helping entrepreneurs succeed, how to set up your online shop, social media tips, and the confidence to grow your handmade business! I have my own online shop, Spry Sprout, for almost 5 years and every day is a new adventure.

Combined, this space will mesh how to effectively make an income doing what you love in a handmade way. There's a market for what you do, believe me!

Oh! I'm also full of whimsy and dad jokes.
